Our Community Commitment

The River Creek Aging in Place Network is a grassroots, neighbor-to-neighbor initiative. Our website is a tool to foster “thoughtful connection” and coordinate the volunteer support that allows our residents to thrive at home. We treat your digital data with the same “attentive guidance” and respect we provide during a home visit or a community event.

Member & Visitor Information

  • Volunteer & Social Coordination: When you engage with our site—whether through comments or inquiries—we collect the information you provide so we can better coordinate social activities, walking groups, or “neighbor-to-neighbor” support tasks.
  • Comments: When neighbors leave thoughts on our posts, we collect the data shown in the comments form. To keep our “four-season neighborhood” safe from digital intruders, we also log the visitor’s IP address and browser info for spam detection.
  • Spam Prevention: We use automated services to check comments. This ensures our digital space remains a serene environment for all members.

Your Privacy in Our “Virtual” Village

  • Photos & Location Safety: We celebrate our life enriched by “lush landscaping and serene river views.” If you share photos of our community events or trails, please ensure they do not have embedded location data (EXIF GPS). This protects the privacy of our residents’ specific home addresses within River Creek.
  • Cookies: To make your experience as smooth as a stroll on our walking trails, we use cookies. If you leave a comment, you can opt-in to saving your name and email so you don’t have to re-type them later. These last for one year. For those who help manage the site, temporary cookies are used to handle secure logins and display settings.

Professional Referrals & Third Parties

  • Embedded Content: Our site may include resources from the Village-to-Village Network or videos of guest speakers. Interacting with this content (like a YouTube video) is the same as visiting those sites directly. They may collect data or use cookies according to their own policies.
  • Referrals: While we may discuss vetted professional service providers, we do not share your private contact information with them without your explicit request for a referral.

Data Retention & Your Rights

In our network, we celebrate life with “quiet strength” and respect for one another.

  • Ownership: You have the right to request an exported file of any personal data we hold about you, or to ask that we erase your information entirely.
  • Retention: We retain comments and their metadata indefinitely to foster ongoing conversation and recognize our returning neighbors without making them wait in a moderation queue.
